5 Round 1 draft prospects who could warm up chilly Rams reception in 2024

Prospect 5: Texas WR Adonai Mitchell
We know that the LA Rams love wide receivers, but by the time the Rams finally step up to the podium with the 19th overall pick, many of the top targets in this draft will likely be off the board. Of course, Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell may still be on the board, and he has many of the attributes that could persuade the team to call out his name.
Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 205 pounds, Mitchell has plenty of size to endure the physicality of playing football at the NFL level. Thanks to his 4.34-second 40-yard-dash speed, he adds an entirely new level of danger to an offense that already has route runners, sure hands, and yards after the catch down to a science.
In terms of can he play and succeed at the next level? Mitchell gave the Alabama defensive backs fits, and both are viewed as some of the best in this draft class. The thing about Mitchell is consistency, and dependability. He had a breakout season in 2023 for the Longhorns, when he caught 55 passes for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns. That is a touchdown for every five receptions.
Mitchell has all of the fundamentals that this team looks for in wide receivers. He has a full array of routes, can create separation, does not rely solely on speed. and has a fighting style once he secures the football and turns upfield.
Mitchell offers enough similarities to other receivers on the roster to give him a role to play in the rotation. But his arsenal differs from that of his teammates that allow the team to leverage his speed and long-range pass catching to stretch the field and open up the entire playbook.
