6 LA Rams who need to put up huge games in Week 2 vs the Arizona Cardinals
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams are down but not out. That's the feeling after a close overtime loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 1, despite the team entering with a huge handicap. Playing a projected playoff team without a starting offensive tackle is a huge handicap. But facing the Detroit Lions at Ford Field without both starting offensive tackles was nigh impossible. And then, to add icing to the cake, the Rams secondary faced their offense without starting defensive back, Darious Williams.
It's a fair understatement to admit that the odds were stacked against the Rams in Week 1. But in even worse shape, the Rams must now travel once more for Week 2. This time, the Rams face their familiar NFC West Division rival, the Arizona Cardinals. While the Rams have enjoyed a mastery of the Cardinals since hiring HC Sean McVay, this is a game in the desert heat. And the Cardinals are not hapless of late, as they certainly showed some spunk in 2023 by winning several games as underdogs.
And then, again, there is the abundance of injured players, and the number never seems to shrink.
There is no such thing as a sure thing. If you don't believe me, then how could the Rams travel to Ford Field and push the home field Lions into overtime? Yes, the Lions won that game, but if not for several bad plays by the Rams, they win that by a pretty significant margin in regulation play. Such is the parity in the NFL.
Now, the Rams, still in the role of a road underdog, must try to claim their first win of the season as the expense of the Cardinals. The Cardinals, if you recall., put up a 14 point lead against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1 before losing.
Yet, the Rams still 'feel' like a team capable of surprising folks this week. Perhaps that is due to the fact that this team still has players capable of dramatic heroics. Such as? Here are five such players who have that stellar upside, and need to flex that star-quality in Week 1
