6 LA Rams who need to put up huge games in Week 2 vs the Arizona Cardinals
By Bret Stuter
(5) - DT Kobie Turner
We all know that defensive lineman Kobie Turner carries a heavy yolk right now. He is not only one of the fiercest and most dangerous defensive linemen on the team but he was named as one of two 2024 defensive team captains. And we also know that he takes that role and the responsibilities that go with it very seriously.
The Conductor, as he is so affectionately nicknamed, is almost always smiling and laughing off the football field. And yet, when he is on the football field, he is a focused and snarling embodiment of controlled chaos. As a rookie, he led all of his draft class by putting up 9.0 quarterbck sacks. Not only was he the best rookie in 2023 at felling quarterbacks, but his performance tied the masterful rookie season of DT Aaron Donald.
Now comes the hard part. Act II. And so far, he has gotten off to a slow, but not alarmingly so, start to the 2024 NFL season.
Not to fear. Much like Kyren Williams in the previous slide. Kobie Turner played very well in two games against the Arizona Cardinals last season. He averaged 4.5 tackles, 1.0 quarterback sacks, 1.0 quarterback hits, and 1.0 tackles for a loss. And much like Williams this year, the Rams need all of that from him in Week 2.
But they could get even more.
As much as I enjoyed Turner's performance in 2023, he is far more experienced in 2024. As such, you can look for him to be more of a force this season. While he was held relatively quiet in Week 1, he will show up this week. Why? If for no other reason then the team simply needs him to put up some impressive numbers.
