(5) - DT Tuli Letuligasenoa
It's safe to say that the LA Rams coaches are open to any young defensive linemen whose performance warrants consideration for a roster spot. I think it's also safe to say that undrafted rookie defensive tackle Tuli Letuligasenoa out of Washington was unlikely to be the first name that crossed their mind. But if he has another solid performance for the team, he could be the last.
He was almost an afterthought in this game, getting just 14 defensive snaps. But my oh my, he made them count, big time. He only had one tackle in the game. But it was a solid quarterback sack, a five-yard loss in the third quarter with 2:06 remaining on the clock in the third quarter. That sack led to the only missed field goal of the game by Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey. In retrospect, it was that sack that kept the Rams within six points, and allowed a last-minute touchdown pass by QB Stetson Bennett to TE Miller Forristall to tie the score, setting up the game-winning extra point
It's funny how plays during the game are so interrelated, isn't it?
Even with one tackle, Tuli had a significant impact in the outcome of the game. It was subtle, and was not the stuff that would please a Fantasy Football team owner. But it's the small contributions of everyone that builds a championship team, and carries them through the season to win a championship.
While many roster slots on the defensive line are already claimed, it seems a bit premature to give a guy like Tuli 14 defensive snaps in one preseason game and have definitive proof of his NFL future, one way or another. Give him a larger role. Let him earn his place on this team. He just may surprise everyone and do exactly that. Our initial assessment of his chances to make the team ended with this statement:
" If he can add some pass rush moves to his arsenal, he has a real chance to make this roster."Bret Stuter
Well, he has certainly proven to have added some pass rush moves. So he has a shot.
