(3) - Cory Durden (#98) - Defensive Tackle
The LA Rams have invested in adding a significant number of defensive linemen for the 2024 NFL season. The team knows that the team needs to not only bring down opposing quarterbacks, but the defense must put up strong resistance to opposing rushers. For that to happen, a player like the 6-foot-4 316-pound defensive tackle Cory Durden need to play a significant role on this defensive line.
Durden showed up in just 44 defensive snaps in 2023, and had three tackles as a result. But he clung to a roster spot in 2023, and now hopes to leverage that experience to claim an even bigger role in the defense this season. He is not there yet, showing up as the third nose tackle on the team's depth chart at a position that will likely only see two make the initial 53-man roster.
But he has a spot in preseason games. He has some experience. And he has the opportunity to earn a place on this team.
(4) - Beaux Limmer (#50) - Center
It may seem a bit odd to harbor any excitement for an NFL interior offensive lineman, but former Arkansas center Beaux Limmer is a player who plays at a seldom-recognized position who may be worth getting to know. He is the third center on the Rams depth chart, and it may be wishful thinking for the team to carry two centers on the initial 53-man roster. But Beaux Limmer is a versatile interior offensive linemen who may beat the odds.
For openers, he is a big and powerful Atlas. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 312 pounds, he has the size and strength to handle the biggest and strongest nose tackles in the NFL. And he is not limited to the center position. He can slide out to play at the offensive guard position.
But what puts Limmer under the spotlight is the fact that he is a powerhouse. He is super-strong, and what makes him so intriguing in preseason games is the hope that he can channel those power lifts and bench presses into pass blocking and opening huge rushing lanes at the offensive line.
