VII: Rookie WR Jordan Whittington already getting first team reps

Does the LA Rams front office have a knack of finding solid rookie prospects who have a good chance of playing well in the NFL. Even for those receivers who have gone on to play for other teams, they are still putting up respectable numbers. Players like Van Jefferson is impressing coaches for the Pittsburgh Steelers, while Josh Reynolds has joined the Denver Broncos offense for their HC Sean Payton.

While we have been told over and over to limit expectations of former Texas WR Jordan Whittington this season, the frequency and intensity of glowing reports out of training camp so far make that almost impossible to do.

Jordan Whittington looks very much like the real deal folks.

While we can tout the pass and catch antics in shorts and tee-shirts that have thrilled fans of other teams, we won't. But what we will say is that players like Cooper Kupp, a veteran known to be a straight shooter, has already publicly stated that Whittington looks locked and loaded to have a solid season. Second-year receiver Puka Nacua has come out and stated for the record that Whittington knows all of the routes.

We know that to succeed as a wide receiver in this offense, receivers must know and block successfully, must know how to run with the football, must know ball security, must create separation, must put up yards after the catch, must play with a certainly physicality and authority, and must be able to make contested catches.

Whittington checks all of those boxes. It's only a matter of time until he begins to show up on the football field. At his current pace, that will be sooner rather than later.
