9 bold predictions for the Los Angeles Rams for the 2024 season
By Bret Stuter
(9) Rams backfield will put up 2000+ rushing yards
The LA Rams have rushed for 2000+ rushing yards as a team three times since hiring HC Sean McVay to lead this team. But this team has gotten to that plateau through the use of jet sweeps, quarterback scrambles and other gadget plays that have bolstered the team's ability to churn out yards on the ground.
The team rushed for 2045 yards yards as recently as 2023. But of those yards, 293 yards were added by non-running backs. And therein lies the boldness of this prediction. Right now, the LA Rams are carrying four running backs on the roster. Of that group, surely they can get 2000+ yards this season.
But to be a bit bolder, let's try to put some numbers to this group of runners for the 2024 NFL season, shall we?
- RB Kyren Williams - 230 carries | 1,260 yards | 9 TD
- RB Blake Corum - 160 carries | 790 yards | 8 TD
- RB Ronnie Rivers - 35 carries | 151 yards | 1 TD
- RB Cody Schrader -25 carries | 119 yards | 0 TD
- Running back Totals - 450 carries | 2,320 yards | 18 TDs
Of course, this is indeed a bold prediction, if simply due to the fact that the Rams have never gotten this much production out of their running back room under Coach McVay. But the team has invested heavily in a more physical offensive line, stockpiled both tight ends and running backs, and the goal is not only to win, but to keep veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford healthy all season long.
The best way to do that? Run the ball.
