(3) Rams secondary will have at least 1 pick-six
The LA Rams front office had a lot of work this offseason. While the team is still trying to get a firm handle on the team's secondary, the team clearly values ball-hawking defensive backs for the 2024 secondary. And that interest in interceptions is something that has been overdue for some time.
Turnovers do not just 'happen.' In fact, intercepting passes is more than one daring-do defensive back making a play on the football. Those special plays require the utmost of coordination and communication to be consistently effective. For every play made on the football, there must be another defensive back in position to cover the receiver just in case the football gets pass the intended interceptor.
It takes a lot of coordination to add intercepting passes to the secondary goals. And it also requires superb play out of the safeties on the field as well. I don't think that cornerbacks were very trusting of former safeties Taylor Rapp or Nick Scott to be in the right position to cover a receiver.
But the cornebacks like John Johnson III, Kamren Curl, Quentin Lake, and Kamren Kinchens can be trusted to be in position. All have excellent pass coverage skills. And all have worked extensively in the secondary through training camp, joint practices, and preseason.
This year, the team has loaded up on defensive backs who can make a play on the football. Now, will they? I say yes, and one of the secondary superheroes will have at least one pick-six for the Rams this season.
