Offensive depth (27)

The LA Rams offense has the best quality and depth, but even with that said, the LA Rams will likely be pursuing additional contributors. I'd like to point to the quarterback position that is the most unsettled, as the Rams rifled through four QBs in 2022. This year, the Rams are initially attempting to enter the 2023 NFL season with just two quarterbacks, and Stetson Bennett is clearly struggling already.

  1. Quarterbacks (2) - Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett
  2. Running backs (4) - Cam Akers, Kyren Williams, Ronnie Rivers, Zach Evans
  3. Tight Ends (5) - Tyler Higbee, Brycen Hopkins, Hunter Long, Davis Allen
  4. Wide Receivers (6) - Cooper Kupp, Van Jefferson, Tutu Atwell, Ben Skowronek, Puka Nacua, Demarcus Robinson
  5. Offensive linemen (10) - Alaric Jackson, Steve Avila, Coleman Shelton, Kevin Dotson, Rob Havenstein, Joe Noteboom, Zach Thomas, Brian Allen, Tremayne Anchrum Jr., Warren McClendon Jr.

At first glance, the LA Rams offense is a pretty formidable group. As long as the offensive line can protect starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and open running lanes for Cam Akers, this team has a real chance to score plenty of points.

Offensive line projections

With the outright release of IOL Logan Bruss, and the willingness to carry 10 offensive linemen on the 53-man roster, the LA Rams are clearly taking aggressive steps to ensure that this group does not topple like a house of playing card this year. If the Rams commit both Joe Noteboom as a backup swing tackle and Brian Allen as a backup center, I think that the 2023 Rams offensive line can gel quickly and could become one of Top-Tier offensive line units in the NFL.

While the offensive skill positions are deep, the fact that the Rams roster carries four tight ends and four running backs adds even more evidence that this team is about to attempt greater emphasis on the running game.

But the greatest vulnerability to the Rams plans as they now stand is the simple fact that its do or die trying to keep starting quarterback Matthew Stafford upright and healthy this season. I have every confidence in the world that the Rams can get backup rookie quarterback Stetson Bennett up to speed given enough time. But he is most certainly not ready to be promoted into a starting role if Stafford is injured, and even if that does not happen, the Rams rifled through four starting quarterbacks in 2022.

I simply cannot believe that the Rams, after commiting to 10 offensive linemen due to injuries experienced in 2022, will remain at just two quarterbacks on the roster.
