In the NFL, rookies are often associated with teams that are rebuilding. It's not just their inexperience, but their low cost, moldability, and coachability, and the fact that their best years are ahead of them. But when it comes to the LA Rams, the team believes that young players can contribute now, After all, this team continues to harness coaches with resumes that boast player development and communication. So why not leverage that player development whenever possible?

Well, that seems to be the plan for the team. After loading up the Rams roster with 15 rookies in 2023, the team doubles down to add a staggering 17 rookies for the 2024 NFL season. Not only is that a very bold (and perhaps risky) move by the team, but it seems to run against their plans for an appearance in Super Bowl LIX.

Yet, here we are, cheering for 17 young players who are competing in the NFL for the first time. Yes, this is a team led by the venerable senior statesman, quarterback Matthew Stafford (36 years old). And yes, this team boast veteran right tackle Rob Havenstein (32 years old), WR Cooper Kupp (32 years old), Darious Williams (32 years old) and TE Tyler Higbee (31 years old).

The youth movement for the team is undeniable. 17 rookies are on the roster in 2024.

So who are they? Let's list them out for you:

  1. RB Blake Corum
  2. DT Tyler Davis
  3. DT Braden Fiske
  4. OLB Brennan Jackson
  5. K Joshua Karty
  6. DB Kamren Kinchens
  7. IOL Beaux Limmer
  8. DB Jaylen McCollough
  9. ILB Elias Neal
  10. RB Cody Schrader
  11. ILB Omar Speights
  12. OLB Jared Verse
  13. DB Josh Wallace
  14. WR Jordan Whittington
  15. DB Charles Woods
  16. DE Anthony Goodlaw (IR)
  17. OL KT Leveston (IR/Designated to return)

While two are on injured reserve, 15 players are rookies, and comprise nearly a third of the team's 2024 NFL roster. For a team that intends to advance well into the NFL Playoffs, this is a unique and untested method of winning. But, if the team pulls this off, the front office will have successfully turned the corner from a 2022 season that left the team with little talent in the pipeline and no money to spend into a young and passionate Super Bowl contender for years to come.

It's okay to pause and be proud of how thoroughly and quickly the team turned the corner. In the days ahead, we will explore just how the team will manage to find success.

As always, thanks for reading.
