The LA Rams have one question to answer today. Do they know where they are going to?

A 1975 hit song that was performed by Diana Ross as a theme to the movie "Mahogany" included some provocative lyrics that begin with an age-old question that we must all ask ourselves at some point in our lives. The question of what's next is a summary that creates the list of goals, ambitions, dreams, and hopes.

"Do you know where you are going to?"
Diana Ross

It is a compelling question, a fundamental form of inquiry that distills everything that was into a narrowly focused ask of what will be. But the melody blended with the angelic voice of Diana Ross rips at a listener's soul. Perhaps it's best if I pause here a moment and let Diana Ross pose the question as only she can:

So let's ponder the question: Do the LA Rams know where they are going to? In a word? Yes.

Even if you are disappointed in a close loss, take heart in realizing that the LA Rams plans understood that 2023 was not going to be the apex of their competitiveness. The Rams roster, reconstructed from a bare framework in 2023, is still in the process of being fitted out as a future Super Bowl contender.

The Rams had a lot of work to do after a disappointing 5-12 season. And after every disappointment, there are those who linger a little too long over what went wrong so as to prevent the opportunity to also see what went right.

Ultimately, the LA Rams 2023 NFL season has ended. But every season in the NFL must end at some point. And as the season ends, do you want to remember it for what the LA Rams failed to accomplish, or for what it did accomplish?

I would not be too discouraged about the way the LA Rams finished this season. The Rams entered the season with the only known players were QB Matthew Stafford, WR Cooper Kupp, and DT Aaron Donald. Right now, the Rams roster is bursting with young talent. In terms of the team's checklist, the Rams simply have to continue to develop their young players, identify areas of need for the Rams roster, and find the next wave of new faces to lift the team over the hump.

The LA Rams are much closer to competing in a Super Bowl than you may realize. Stay tuned . . .
