UPDATE: Another pass rusher to ponder

While I do not think that the Rams intend, or even should plan, to make wholesale changes to their roster even as ideal circumstances may present themselves, the truth of the matter is that any decisions to upgrade the Rams roster now also carry over to 2024 and beyond. Even if any player added is merely a one-year rental, that player could trigger the algorithm for an awarded compensatory pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

And so, if the Rams choose wisely, they can audition a promising player for a year, and if they play well enough could elect to retain that player. Or, if the market price inflates too highly, the Rams could end up with an additional pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. That feels like a win-win situation, doesn't it?

And another one

Just as this article was published, we found another sparkling gem of a pass rusher that just became available. This time it is Minnesota Vikings outside linebacker Luiji Vilain, a promising 25-year-old who should definitely attract the LA Rams' interest.

Vilain played just 34 defensive snaps last season, but still managed to record four tackles. But he was already getting noticed for his preseason heroics this year. Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 252 pounds, VIlain has the prototypical size and wingspan for an NFL pass rusher.

The LA Rams do not suddenly regress by signing another young promising outside linebacker. By upgrading the Rams roster today, the Rams are setting the foundation for an even better roster next season.
