The LA Rams front office, even after a 10-7 season in 2023, still had a significant shopping list for the 2024 NFL Draft. The team was prepared this season. After a drought of seven straight seasons without a pick on Day 1, the team finally made a selection on Day 1 of the draft. As luck would have it, the team showcased the necessary nimbleness throughout the three-day shopping spree that left the roster in far better shape than before the draft began.

Don't get me wrong, the entire draft was filled with exciting selections of talented player who, after pondering their fit and role on this team, showcased a grand master plan that rivals that of a super-villain in a Marvel movie like Thanos or Kang the Conqueror.

For other NFL teams, it was simple to guess at the Rams next move or moves. After all, NFL headlines covered the retirement of DT Aaron Donald for weeks. And the team's own pre-draft interviews acknowledged the lack of pass rush and kicker efficiency in 2023. It was easy for teams that may have been competing for those positions to attempt to outflank and outmaneuver this team's efforts to shop for urgent needs on the roster.

Yet, here we stand, after the draft, savoring the array of key contributors who could be vital for success in 2024. Such as? I thought you would never ask:

V: Rams got the best kicker in the draft

The need to draft a kicker was a glaring need for the team almost from the start of the 2023 NFL season. After the team cycled through: Tanner Brown, Christopher Dunn, Brett Maher, Lucas Havrisik, back to Brett Maher, and finally back to Tanner Brown, the team really did need to upgrade the level of competition for the position.

Despite selecting the second kicker in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Rams chose the best kicker in the eyes of many draft analysts by naming Stanford placekicker Joshua Karty. We will have more to say about Karty in future articles, but there were no better options in this year's draft. Ultimately, the team landed the most powerful leg with the best accuracy, and the team selected the kicker who wanted to play for the Rams all along.
