Bleacher Report pitches insane 3-team Rams trade that will never happen

It's clearly the offseason, because the imagination is running wild at Bleacher Report with the latest Rams 3-team trade proposal.

LA Rams

The author's hook for all of this business is clearly to try to use the velcro rational of backfilling the role vacated by All-Pro DT Aaron Donald with a distinguished veteran defensive tackle like Cameron Heyward. Ironically, Donald was selected by the LA Rams in the 2014 NFL Draft, three years after Heyward was selected.

Why would the Rams do this?

Oh, I dunno. I presume that some cliche' phrase goes here. F*** them picks? All in? Super Bowl or bust? The perception of the Rams front office's strategy is akin to that of a person who is fleeing for their life from a man-eating polar bear. It's as though they cannot see any logic to the teams maneuvers, so no strategy must exist. The proposal is pitched as a desperate defense willing to trade two valuable draft picks for a seasoned veteran who has a past history of getting after the quarterback.

Why wouldn't the Rams do this?

Let's see. A Round 3 pick in 2025, a Round 4 pick in 2026, and a young wide receiver in the final year of his contract who was selected in Round 2, in exchange for a veteran defensive tackle who is entering his 14th season. And this is after suffering a significant injury to open the 2023 NFL season:

After his surgery, he was clearly not himself. He finished out the final 10 games of the 2023 NFL season with just 33 tackles, 2.0 quarterback sacks, and 3.5 tackles for a loss.

Those are Bobby Brown III type of numbers.

I simply see no reason why the Rams would have any compulsion to pick up the phone to start this trade conversation, nor do I see any reason why they would have any reason to take the call if made by the Broncos or Steelers.
