The Seminoles package deal was a steal

There is a great deal to be said about the team landing both key defenders from the Seminoles' defensive front, and we have already spoken about the duo at length. But when a pair of rookies who have yet to play a single NFL snap get accolades from NFL Insider/analyst Brian Baldinger, it's time to sit up and take notes.

If Braden Fiske or Jared Verse were made of different stuff, all of the pre-NFL praise would be of great concern. Along the lines of collegiate Heisman Trophy winners, NFL rookies seem to reach their full potential if and when they arrive to the pros still hungry for ultimate success.

Both Fiske and Verse are starving for football success right now:

"It is cool just to build up that and what we can implement on this defense. I think there (are) a lot of opportunities for us to come here and succeed, and I am just excited for how much more we can grow as a unit. Having that bond with me and him, it is something we have both been chasing, we are both super hungry for what we are going after out there. I think it is going to be a lot of fun. I am excited to see where we get to. It is gonna be real cool."

Braden Fiske re: Jared Verse

The truth is that Braden Fiske is not just a system defender. Nor is he a massive lump that simply anchors in place like a fireplug. He is the type of defensive chameleon who can change how he looks to suit the situation. He can stuff the run, glide out to stop a screen pass or end run, or charge after the quarterback.

What makes pairing him up with Jared Verse in the Rams defensive front is the fact that the two ore already well-connected and anchored. Training camp is tough for young men, and the truth is that some talented football players will be released due to the challenges of squeezing 90 players into 53 roster spots. So rookies who arrive with a support group, a friend, and a true teammate already affords both Fiske and Verse an advantage.

Fiske and Verse are bound to the LA Rams under contract for the next four seasons. But they have forged a lifelong friendship. Neither will willingly let the other down on a football field. Grab your popcorn, because this is going to be a fun season.
