Gallimore has far more untapped potential

It's always a wise idea to revisit an NFL veteran's draft profile to see what they got right and what they seemed to swing-and-miss at in assessing a rookie prospect's NFL potential. And to be honest, NFL Draft analysts loved Neville so much that he was projected to come off the board in Round 2. Just for comparison purposes, the Rams draft IOL Steve Avila and DT Braden Fiske in Round 2. The Dallas Cowboys selected Neville Gallimore in Round 3 with the 82nd overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Gallimore is a passionate player who never takes plays off, goes full tilt from snap to whistle. He loves to make plays, and has Greg Gaines gazelle-like speed in pursuit of mobile quarterbacks and ball carriers. It's that unexpected speed that is one of the most intriguing aspects of Gallimore in this defense. He runs in the same lane as DT Kobie Turner and rookie Braden Fiske, with a burst of speed that nobody was prepared for.

As noted in the previous slide, Neville Gallimore creates quarterback pressure. That's a bonus for a run stuffer, as it means that the rotation needn't scramble to swap him out in certain passing situtaitons. In fact, his versatility is a huge plus, as the team will almost certainly be mixing and matching players early in the season to find the optimal combinations to have on the football field simultaneously.

Something that has not been discussed is the fact that Gallimore can defeat double, and even triple, teams. While he does not get credit for that capability due to his rotational role, he possesses a full arsenal of defensive moves that includes a bull rush, a swim move, a spinning move, a cross chop, chop club, and more.

Despite entering his fifth NFL season, a change of scenery could be excellent in unlocking Gallimore's full NFL potential.
