Despite Week 2 loss, LA Rams have plenty of fight in them to thrill fans this season
Pass Rush:
This may be an area of concern for the LA Rams. Having said that, the Rams front office could be actively pursuing players who could help here before the 2023 NFL Trade Deadline. Rams DT Aaron Donald was double and triple-teamed a number of times, yet the Rams pass rush could not get any pressure on 49ers QB Brock Purdy.
Rams rookie outside linebacker Byron Young has shown that he can be a force in this league. He was the lone Rams pass rusher to record a quarterback sack on 49ers QB Brock Purdy, and he was able to get two of the three total QB hits.
Until the Rams can add someone who can beat a one-on-one block, this will continue to be an area of concern. Fans would be wise not to elevate their assessment of the Rams pass rush too highly by the pressure caused on Seahawks QB Geno Smith in Week 1. In that game, the Rams' pass rush was very quiet until both Seahawks starting offensive tackles left the game due to injury.

Defensive Backs
Alright so the Rams DB's did a pretty good job overall. They did have some issues with tackling, but any time a defense can hold WR's Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and TE George Kittle to only 136 total yards with no touchdowns they can say they were successful.
LA Rams second-year defensive back Derion Kendrick, on the other hand, has proven two weeks in a row that he doesn't belong in the NFL, or at least not in this scheme.
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk made Kendrick look silly on a comeback route very early on in the game that luckily didn't break for anything huge. Then there were the back-to-back pass Interference and facemask penalties that Kendrick committed as the first half came to a close. The result of those penalties placed the 49ers offense on the Rams' one-yard line and resulted in a touchdown that tied the game 17-17 going into the half.
I wish I could say that was the end of it, but sadly it was not. Kendrick proceeded to get burned by 49ers WR Deebo Samuel on what looked like a post route in which QB Brock Purdy luckily overthrew him. Had the ball been on target, Samuel surely would have walked into the endzone. At this point, I think it is time the Rams roll the dice and see what rookie CB Tre Tomlinson, nephew of Hall of Fame RB LaDainian Tomlinson, can do.
