Falling to 0-2 for 1st time since 2011 triggers several Rams doomsday scenarios

The LA Rams are 0-2 for the first time in HC Sean McVay's tenure. Now, how will this team respond?

Rams cannot allocate so many roster spots to TEs and RBs

Despite a shaky offensive line for the second consecutive game of the season, this offense did nothing to help them out. The Rams offense, down WR Puka Nacua, did not emphasize two tight ends in any game planning. Rather, the team went with the basic 11 personnel package, allowing Stafford to suffer his seventh sack of the season, in a game that was over as soon as the Cardinals scored their second touchdown with more than 8:30 left in the first quarter.

The Rams stuck to their guns, with three wide receivers, one running back, and one tight end. It didn't work. The team put up 245 yards in the entire game. Whatever the Rams planned to do against the Cardinals defense, the Cardinals were ready for it.

No 12 personnel packages. No rookie RB Blake Corum until the game was over. No emphasis on the running game until the four minutes remained in this game.

The Rams have a problem mid-game with recognizing that their game plan is not working, and improvising to develop one that will work on the fly.

And yet, the plan was to draft rookie TE Brock Bowers to add to a roster that had already signed TE Colby Parkinson, welcomed back the return of TEs Davis Allen and Hunter Long, and await the healthy return of veteran TE Tyler Higbee.

That same tight end room that always seems to generate so much buzz and optimism in the offseason could muster no more than one reception for 12 receiving yards in Week 2. Collectively, the Rams tight ends have put up four catches so far this season for 47 yards in two games. That places the entire tight end room to finish the 2024 NFL season with just under 400 yards. So why did we allow ourselves to get excited about that?
