Game-by-Game predictions for 2024 Rams schedule release: Weeks 12 -13

Week 12 - 11/24 - Philadelphia Eagles vs LA Rams

This is a tough game to scry because my mind tells me that the Rams are more likely to lose a game than win a game, and the Eagles are an opponent that has done enough to win games in 2024. After all, the Eagles emerged from the 2024 NFL Draft with two of the top four defensive backs on my big board: Toledo DB Quinyon Mitchel and Iowa DB Cooper DeJean.

While NFL rookies need time to get up to NFL speed, the presence of two formidable prospects is tough to ignore and increases the chances of at least one rookie making a big play.

The Rams will win their fair share of games in 2024. But the team will lose a few games too. The Eagles suffered a tailspin to close out the 2023 NFL season, and are working hard to rebound this season. While they no longer have All-Pro center Jason Kelce, I don't think that it's going out on a limb to admit that they have wisely invested in their roster for 2024.

The Eagles struggle on the West Coast, which is why I struggle to surrender this game to the visitors. But the Eagles have added RB Saquon Barkley, who gives their offense a brand new dynamic.

I can see this game going either way. The Rams have a home-field advantage, and they are due for a win over the Birds. The Eagles have a more seasoned defense and pass rush. In a game like this, it could come down to an extra point or a successful two-point conversion. I went with a two-point conversion.

Final Score:
Philadelphia Eagles 22
LA Rams 21

Week 13 - 12/1 - LA Rams @ New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints may be one of the teams to claim a berth in the postseason this year. The team managed to finish 2023 with a winning record and had a respectable 2024 NFL Draft. I don't agree with some of the early power rankings that project the Saints to finish among the lower half of the standings at the end of the 2024 NFL season.

This is a team that returns QB Derek Carr, still features ever-versatile RB Alvin Kamara, and boasts WRs Chris Olave and Michael Thomas. The offense will put up points. The question is, how many will the Saints defense surrender in this one?

Unlike 2023, when the Saints' defense was generous in yards allowed (327.2 YPG - 13th ranked) but stingy in points allowed (19.2 PPG - 8th ranked), the Saints' defense will give way to the vastly more physical Rams offense.

In last year's contest, the Rams offense was powered by WR Puka Nacua (164 yards, 1 TD) and Demarcus Robinson (82 yards, 1 TD), as well as the thunderous running of RB Kyren Williams (104 yards, 1 TD). Look for more of the same in 2024, with one new wrinkle. RB Blake Corum will gash the Saints' defense too. I can easily envision the one-two combination of Williams and Corum combining for 210+ yards and 3+ touchdowns. But the Saints will stay close, and it could come down to a fourth-quarter comeback from Rams veteran QB Matthew Stafford to pull out the win.

Final Score:
LA Rams 33
New Orleans Saints: 27
