Stafford scenario does make some sense
For any trade scenario to happen, there must be some form of logic to the exchange. As we all know, the value inherent in any trade scenario does not always fall within the range of equity among NFL fans. For various reasons, we all have our 'no less than' threshold that we will demand in the face of any NFL exchange.
So when we are talking about veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, and the fact that the team gave up starting QB Jared Goff, two Round 1 and one Round 3 picks to acquire him, many fans place a high value on any trade scenario that involves sending Stafford elsewhere.
Beyond the return for an exchange, the concept of trading starting quarterback Matthew Stafford to another NFL team that has a solid defense, a solid offensive line, and is not getting obliterated by injuries has intrigue. So much so that a number of NFL experts and afficionados are proposing trading Stafford before the NFL Trade Deadline, and perhaps long before he is crippled and sent to IR.
ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes, someone who is not often weighing in on the LA Rams Stafford situation, is veering off track of analyzing players and production, to give her two cents on a proposed Rams trade of Matthew Stafford, and she proposes the Rams consider trading their ace hurler to the Las Vegas Raiders:
Unlike the Rams, the Las Vegas Raiders are 1-1, and they are chasing two red-hot NFL teams in the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. And they are doing so behind the arm of veteran QB Garner Minshew. But the Raiders offense is 23rd in the NFL after just two games. Their defense is 23rd in the NFL after two games as well. If the Raiders are to have even an outside chance of success, something has to improve.
Mina Kimes believes that adding Stafford to an offense that includes WR Davante Adams is exactly the nitrol fuel needed to kick that Raiders aerial assault into unstoppable mode.
