The Rams need pass rushers and run stuffers. But they need blocker gobblers too, and this defense boasts two good ones.

Rookie NT Tyler Davis has to make a statement in 2024

The LA Rams have a long standing tradition out of drafting a late round defensive tackle who has the right passion and mindset for football, but who may arrive a bit raw to the NFL. Players like NT Sebastian Joseph-Day and Greg Gaines come to mind, players who are big, strong, and take on as many blockers as possible while holding their ground to stop the running back

Former Clemson rookie DT Tyler Davis continues that tradition.

Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 299 pounds, Tyler Davis has a similar frame to that of NT Kobie Turner (6-foot-2, 297 pounds), and as such has a similar style of making plays on the defensive line. Davis is very athletic, not only in easily being one of the strongest rookies to enter the NFL in 2024, but in speed and agility too. Projected to come off the draft board early in Day 3, Davis patiently waited to hear his name called out by the LA Rams in Round 6. While later than expected, he falls into the roster of a team that truly needs his style of play.

As stated above, Tyler Davis has a very similar powerful passion and personna as Kobie Turner, with the collegiate production to prove it. In five years playing for the Clemson Tigers, Davis racked up 144 tackles, 29.5 tackles for a loss, and 16 quarterback sacks. He even recovered three fumbles. His power translated not only into overpowering offensive lineman to make tackles consistently behind the line of scrimmage, but he put up 5.0+ quarterback sacks on more than one occasion.

Davis is a true powerhouse whose style of play makes him the ideal plug and play rookie at multiple positions on the Rams defensive front. That not only allows the team to slide him to different spots, but also opens the possibility to show both odd and even fronts throughout the course of the season.

Davis has the tools and attitude to be a difference maker in 2024. But he will be sharing the load with a returning veteran who must make his last stand.
