LA Rams 2023-24 schedule and results
By Bret Stuter
If you wanted the LA Rams to have an easy go of in through the 2023 NFL season, you may be disappointed. If you are okay with the Rams taking some lumps in 2023, with the understanding that this team will be much improved for the 2024 NFL season, then you may have plenty to smile about. Typically an optimist, I have to admit that I'm a bit less so this season.
That's not to say that I want to be right with splitting the difference between hopes and realistic expectations. It's just that the Rams have admittedly and willingly taken it on the chin this season to set themselves up in much better financial health for the 2024 NFL season. I'm simply taking the team at face value.
Can this team surprise in 2023? You bet. The LA Rams have made a number of intriguing additions to the roster, key additions who could be surprisingly effective. But the overall nature of the Rams roster is not focused on winning immediately and so, with that in mind, there is some leeway for the Rams to struggle a bit in the early going.

Just a couple of quick observations. In 2023, the LA Rams open and close out the season on the road. And during the season, the LA Rams have two separate occasions where the team must play in back-to-back road games. The first set of back-to-back road games occur on Weeks 3 and 4, when the Rams must compete on the road on Monday Night Football to face the Cincinnait Bengals, and then remain on the road to face the Indianapolis Colts the following Sunday. In my estimation, it really makes more sense for the Rams to stay in a hotel for the week before the Colts game, and then return home.
The second pair of road games occur on Weeks 8 and 9, when the Rams must travel to take on the Dallas Cowboys, and then must stay on the road to compete against the Green Bay Packers the following week In Green Bay.
The Rams do get a rare three-game home stand, when the Rams will host the Philadelphia Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Pittsburgh Steelers on Weeks 5-7 respectively. Some fans see as many as 11 wins for the Rams in the 2023 NFL season. I'm projecting the Rams to win half that number. After all, I'd rather look for the Rams to win 5 games in 2023 and then be overjoyed that this team is winning more games than expect the Rams to win 11 games, and be lambasting the team to fire coaches and release players at the first losing streak.
In any case, this will be an exciting season. Stay tuned.
