L.A. Rams 5-Round 2024 NFL Mock Draft: A potential Stafford heir and a big trade up
By Ryan Heckman
For a defense that overachieved last year, they still need playmakers. That defensive front cannot do it all. For that reason, the Rams go after maybe the best safety in this draft class by selecting Minnesota's Tyler Nubin.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Nubin is going to be a leader and make his presence known wherever he gets drafted, but hopefully it's in Los Angeles. He plays big and physical. There is no running back, receiver or tight end too big for Nubin to bring down. He is an absolute force near the line of scrimmage, being as nasty as they come against the run for his position.
Nubin is a strong player who knows how to use his hands to disengage opposing blocks and work his way around to bring down ball carriers. He has a good nose for the football. Instincts are immaculate within the box and close to the line of scrimmage.
In coverage, he's best playing underneath coverage. For that matter, he's suited as more of a strong safety. He's a field general; not someone you necessarily want dropping too deep. But, in the intermediate area and close to the line of scrimmage, Nubin is an absolute baller.
