The LA Rams front office is kicking into overdrive right now. You can thank the unceasing onslaught of injuries to a roster after just two games. But unlike many teams facing injuries, look for the Rams to target the practice squad with the kaleidoscope of ins and outs. That's due to the fact that the team is undergoing a unique pattern of injuries that is devastating the team, but only at a limited number of positions.

That has resulted in the team burning through backups, and has left the team's practice squad barren of backups at those key positions.

The Rams had recently reported that rookie kicker Joshua Karty was fighting through a groin injury. While that have been reports to suggest that Karty is expected not to miss any games as a result of his injury, who can believe that in the face of the team's injury outbreak?

Well, the team's front office has seen enough off the team's injury reports in just two games to realize that hoping for a positive outcome is not in the cards for the team this season (too soon?). And so, the team did what they felt was necessary and signed former kicker Tanner Brown to the team for his third chapter with the Rams in two seasons.

The only wrinkle to that is that on this occasion, the team has signed him straightway to the practice squad:

It's a smart move for the team for multiple reasons. Since the hope is that kicker Joshua Karty can continue to play, the presence of alternate kicker Tanner Brown on the practice squad is a move that allows the team an instant option to elevate Brown to the active roster if Karty experiences any setbacks.

Tanner Brown is a player who is quite familiar with the LA Rams, so he is truly a plug-and-play backup for special teams. And there are no limits to the on/off on the team's practice squad, meaning that as soon as the coast is clear, the team can release Brown and retain the option of re-signing him in the new future.

I don't like the reasons behind the move. But I do like the way the front office is handling this one.

As always, thanks for reading.
