It's easy to get spun around with the ins and outs of the 2023 NFL Draft. That is particularly true of the LA Rams, a team that entered this draft with 11 picks and traded back twice. The problem is that many of the specific details of any particular trade are not reported on a timely and concise basis.

The LA Rams traded the 69th and 191st picks to the Houston Texans for the 73rd and 161st picks. Per the NFL Draft Value Chart, the LA Rams traded a draft value of 258.4 to the Texans and got a draft value of 250.8 in return. While close in value, the Rams paid a premium for this exchange.

The Rams traded back from the 73rd overall pick to acquire the 89th and 128th overall picks from the New York Giants. In this exchange, the Rams surrendered a trade value of 225, while only recouping a trade value of 189. The Rams paid a premium for this exchange as well.

That brings us through Day 2 trades and to the cusp of the LA Rams Day 3 of the 2023 NFL Draft. Right now, the LA Rams have 43 open roster spots to fill, and nine draft picks to use in that effort to do so.
