Believe it or not, the LA Rams are leading the charge of marketing the NFL in a host of new markets in 2024. In fact, the NFL global market is expanding once more, and the Rams football is just one of many NFL teams who will be assigned new markets across the globe.

The NFL Global Markets Program was initiated by the NFL in 2022 and has been awarding NFL clubs international marketing rights gradually to build brand awareness and fandom beyond the U.S. Teams that are granted new international markets have the rights and responsibilities to improve public awareness in those countries through fan engagement, events, and commercial opportunities. Not all NFL clubs will participate in the program, but it continues to grow and currently covers 19 international markets, as the NFL embarks on the mission to prioritize global growth.

Prior to this year's announcement, the Los Angeles Rams have been assigned marketing rights in Australia, New Zealand, China, and Mexico. But the team has two new markets added to the list:

And as a result, 25 NFL teams now share or hold exclusive rights in 19 international markets across the globe:

NFL teams can apply for the rights to new global markets each spring, and if approved, will hold marketing rights in that country for five years. Of all NFL teams participating in the NFL's Global Market Program, the LA Rams and Miami Dolphins lead all teams with six markets apiece. The LA Rams assigned Global Markets include:

  • Mexico
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • China
  • Japan
  • South Korea

The Miami Dolphins assigned Global Markets include:

  • Argentina
  • Brazil
  • Columbia
  • Mexico
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom

Some NFL teams have leveraged their assigned international markets during the NFL Draft, staging NFL Draft selection announcements on location in foreign countries.

Ultimately, the LA Rams have truly gone global, with marketing rights in three of the planet's seven continents. That's a pretty good start for one of the hottest teams in the NFL.
