LA Rams GM Les Snead discusses Day 2 strategy
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams have delivered a fundamentally sound NFL Draft so far. No glitz and no glamor so far, is that what fans were looking for? It has seemed to be a new way of thinking for the LA Rams draft strategy from previews foraging for rookie additions.
It feels as though the LA Rams have more going on in the 2023 NFL Draft than in previous drafts. This is a rookie class that seems to be getting the first steps at building in the trenches, a place that we have encouraged the Rams to focus on in this draft.
There is a lot of juice in this discussion. I always appreciate the conversations that have a bit of freestyle from LA Rams GM Les Snead.
If you want the quick and easy recap, nobody does it then LA Rams beat writer and team broadcast and analyst than J.B. Long.
There is a lot to take in when Snead speaks. He cannot help himself, as he is so aware of the strategy that the LA Rams employ when assessing an NFL Draft, that when he talks about it he cannot help but share some of that knowledge.
The Rams seem to be taking a methodical approach in this draft. While some fans may or may not enjoy the rural route of this draft so far, the Rams are certainly holding true to their word. The players added so far are solid fundamentally sound prospects who all have significant roles ahead for the Rams in the 2023 NFL season.
At some point, the Rams roster depth concerns will force the team to address the lack of backups. And there is still the lack of special team specialists. After all, the Rams roster started the 2023 NFL Draft with far too many needs, not wants, to address them all with a dozen picks.
The Rams will simply need to focus on addressing their greatest needs with the best talent. The rest will simply need to be addressed after the 2023 NFL Draft.
