III: Tilt positional spending to offensive side of the football

The LA Rams have committed to building one of the best offenses in the NFL in 2024. That's not based on anything stated publicly by a team executive or coach. It's simple math, as per overthecap.com, the Rams are spending the second-most amount of money on the offensive side of the football. And in third place? There stands the Kansas City Chiefs.

The thing is, the Chiefs have almost always diverted much of their annual salary cap to the offensive side of the football. In 2023, the Chiefs boasted the fourth-most expensive offense in the NFL, while the Rams were the 27th most expensive offense. (Well, in the Rams defense, much of the team's salary cap was depleted by dead money caused by severing ties with so many veterans).

In 2022, the Chiefs spent the third-most amount of money on the offense, while the Rams spent the 26th-most amount of money. In 2021, the year in which the Rams won their Super Bowl, the Rams spent the 24th most amount of money on the offensive side of the football. It was in that year that the Kansas City Chiefs spent the 28th most money on their offense.

It was the Chiefs that pivoted to spending so much on their offense, and the results have been obvious. They have won two consecutive Super Bowls. This year, 2024, the LA Rams are outspending them on the offensive side of the football.
