Guess who's back?

The NFL has a way of creating stories within stories. The LA Rams (3-3) are about to host the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) in Week 7. While the Steelers are coming off their BYE week, the LA Rams are coming off a dominating win against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6, a victory that came about thanks to the sudden realization in the second half that the Rams can run the football.

Like it or not, the Steelers run defense has been one of the worst in the NFL this season.

And so, there is the small matter of LA Rams right guard Kevin Dotson having the opportunity to start against his former team. And Dotson has been delivering as well as, or better than expected in his three starts so far:

Dotson is starting to peak for the LA Rams at just the right time, as he will almost certainly be tested by the Steelers. But before we get down to the drama of the Week 7 contest, a bit of applause is in order for Kevin Dotson, who has cemented his role not just as a solid starter for the LA Rams, but for the fact that he is rapidly ascending to one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL:

Even now, the Rams are reworking an offensive game plan to exploit vulnerabilities in the Steelers defense. Hopefully, the Rams will stick to a ground assault that has delivered whenever the Rams play calling has allowed it to.

Kevin Dotson is a huge offensive lineman, and he has a lot of physicality and fight in him. But you can bet donuts to dollars that he is itching to mow some of his former teammates over in Week 7. Not so much from anger management issues, but simply to prove a point to the Pittsburgh Steelers organization that he has plenty of football left in him.

I hope that the Rams accommodate Dotson and unleash him in Week 7. Stay tuned . . .
