LA Rams Mock Draft: Elite WR and dominating D are theme of this draft
By Bret Stuter
With the 217th overall pick
the LA Rams select Nehemiah Pritchett, cornerback, out of Auburn. At this stage of the draft, the team is seeking players who can contribute on special teams and hold the upside to develop into a player who can earn a larger role. In the case of 6-foot-0 190-pound Auburn defensive back Nehemiah Pritchett, he has the opportunity to contribute instantly on special teams, plus the chance to earn playing time on defense in his rookie season.
The team will like his size, and will love how well he defends the pass. While not a cutpurse who can pickoff interceptions, he sticks to his receiver like velcro and times his move well enough to deflect passes that would otherwise result in completions. In four seasons with the Auburn Tigers, Pritchett recorded 24 pass deflections and three interceptions.
He also has kick return experience, and his 4.36-second 40-yard dash time could come into play if he earns a role as a return specialist for the team.
With the 254th overall pick,
the LA Rams select Cam Little, kicker, out of Arkansas. Despite the team bringing back last year's rookie kicker Tanner Brown, the team wants to up the competition level in the 2024 training camp, and Little is one of the most respected kickers in the 2024 rookie class.
We covered the top five kickers in this year's draft, and Little was one of the top kickers in both leg strength and accuracy. The team needs both because competing in the NFL Playoffs effectively will depend on the team performing well in all phases of the game. That was not the case last season, although veteran kick Brett Maher was perfect in the Wild Card Round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs.
The team hopes that by adding a kick from the 2024 NFL Draft, both accuracy and distance of field goals will improve this season.
