These rookies are quietly awaiting their shot

Rookie OLB Nick Hampton is a player who is quietly awaiting his opportunity to rock the NFL. For now, he has primarily been a special teams contributor, although he has played four defensive snaps as well. Hampton is a bit svelte, standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 235 pounds.

The LA Rams have been eagerly awaiting the debut of rookie OLB Ochaun Mathis, and are finally getting the chance to see what he can do. He has appeared in seven games and has two tackles to his credit so far. He also has one QB hit.

Mr. Irrelevant, defensive tackle Desjuan Johnson, is quite a handful on the defensive front. He already has five tackles and his first quarterback sack, in just 61 defensive snaps. And he is not just taking up a roster space. No sirree, he is a smoldering ember of defensive rage that is ready to burst into flame at some point soon.

The Rams have a stable filled with young horses who are gnawing at the bit for their shot. And it's the savvy and skillful way that LA Rams DL Coach Eric Henderson keeps them hungry, gives them a small taste of real action, then back to practice that keeps the guys ready for their turn on the front.
