Rams rookie OLB Byron Young taking nothing for granted

Even if you are already applauding the performance of LA Rams rookie outside linebacker Byron Young, I am convinced that he is outperforming even the loftiest expectations. His presence on the Rams' defense has been a huge factor, as he has been a constant menace to opposing quarterbacks.

Even when he is not recording a sack, you can see how he impacts the offense. He has an extensive arsenal of moves for a rookie pass rusher, and he never seems to take a play off. So far in 12 games, he has 5.0 quarterback sacks, 14 quarterback hits, 35 quarterback pressures, and 50 tackles.

Not bad for a former manager of a Dollar General store, eh?

OLB Byron Young stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 250 pounds. While just a rookie, he can step up his game when the Rams need extra production. On the road against the Green Bay Packers, Young had his best game of his career in getting 10 tackles, 2.0 quarterback sacks, one quarterback hit and one tackle for a loss.

Because he has been so effective coming off the edge, he is getting more attention from offensive linemen and offensive coordinators, which has freed up his teammates to take over at terrorizing the quarterback. But with five very important games left in the season, you can expect him to add a few more sacks to his numbers this season.
