4 L.A. Rams players on training camp roster bubble
By Ryan Heckman
4. Royce Freeman, RB
Running back always seems to be a trending topic with these Rams, ever since Todd Gurley's days were done. Whether it's been Darrell Henderson, Cam Akers, or others, this back field has simply not received the consistency it's needed over the last few years.
The Rams did recently sign veteran Royce Freeman, though, to add to the mix and give them even more competition at a position of need.
Even though Freeman was signed as the replacement for the retired Sony Michel, I wouldn't put his name in ink on that roster just yet. Sure, head coach Sean McVay did have some nice things to say about Freeman after the team signed him, saying "he's a guy that some people had some familiarity with. I was a fan of his game from seeing him from afar and the way that he handled himself and that was it."
Still, Freeman faces an uphill battle to make this roster. The Rams will likely keep last year's fifth-round pick Kyren Williams along with this year's sixth-round pick Zach Evans. That leaves former undrafted free agent Ronnie Rivers and Freeman competing for what would be the fourth spot on the depth chart.
