LA Rams recent offensive line woes should prompt multiple signings

With multiple players along the offensive line injured, the Rams need to make multiple signings.

The Los Angeles Rams are already dealing with multiple injuries along their offensive line, which should prompt them to make multiple signings in the meantime. Left tackle Alaric Jackson is hurt. Left guard Jonah Jackson is hurt, and right tackle Rob Havenstein is also hurt. For a starting unit that is truly great on paper, this is horrible news.

In fact, I could argue that the Rams OL might be their strongest position group, but the multiple injuries have this unit in a bad spot just weeks before the 2024 NFL Season begins. With the San Francisco 49ers in a bit of a freefall with multiple unhappy players, and the Rams clearly loading up this offseason, General Manager Les Snead must not waste any time.

And it already appears that Snead is moving on that same thought.

There are still a ton of quality free agents along the offensive line left on the market, and even if these players would be temporary additions, Snead and Sean McVay must come together to make multiple signings. QB Matthew Stafford is in his age-36 season and is clearly still elite, so there is just no reason to not continue being aggressive.

The Rams went 10-7 in 2023 with a very young player corps, and with them having another stellar offseason, they are once again sniffing Super Bowl contention. But who could the Rams sign in the meantime to help out the OL with their injuries?

At left tackle, they should consider signing one of Charles Leno Jr, Cameron Fleming, or DJ Humphries, who all have extensive starting experience and would be fabulous short-term solution. The guard market is usually always deep with serviceable players as well.

Mark Glowinski, Trai Turner, and Phil Haynes are still left on the market. The Rams could consider signing one of those players in the meantime. Both Glowinski have been very quality starters at previous stops in their NFL careers.

As for RT Rob Havestein and his injury, the Rams could circle back to Cameron Fleming, a player I just referenced who also has some experience at right tackle. He could be the perfect "two birds with one stone" solution, as he can play both tackle spots adequately.

To me, it does not matter how you slice it; the LA Rams are enduring injuries at one of the single most important position groups in all of sports. With them having a wide open window into contention, aggressive moves must be made, and there are some quality free agents left along the offensive line that the team must consider quickly.
