Let Coach McVay's excitement pull you into believing in the Rams in 2024
By Bret Stuter
LA Rams Head Coach Sean McVay wants to win, loves to win, and is compelled to win. You have to have that mindset to win consistently in the NFL over time. Coach McVay's record since taking over as head coach of the LA Rams is very impressive. He has accomplished 70 regular season wins to just 45 losses, and his postseason record is 7-4. He has led his team to two Super Bowls in just seven seasons.
And if the Rams three-year cycle holds for 2024, he will lead his team to Super Bowl LIX as well.
But this is not the same old version of Coach McVay. He is no longer the uptight and emotional head coach who wanted to ensure that every domino fell just so. This is a gentler version of Coach McVay, a general who trusts his lieutenants, a leader who pays attention to his followers as much as the progress made towards the goal. This is a traveler who is excited about the journey.
And it shows in this interview:
The LA Rams have a great marriage of youth and veterans, and it's enough to keep McVay feeling young and energetic. Enthusiasm is contagious, and it has taken hold of Coach McVay. This offense has been restructured to offer a much more balanced attack in 2024. Having more switches, dials, levers, and dials in the control center of this offense makes Coach McVay far more capable of keeping defenses on their heels this year.
While the offense looks to play a major part of the success in 2024, don't discount this defense. The team struck gold by pairing rookies Byron Young and Kobie Turner in 2023. The results were so impressive that the team went back for seconds, this time loading up with Jared Verse and Braden Fiske. If they pan out this season as well as Young and Turner, this defense is already nearly to 40+ quarterback sacks in 2024 before contributions of any other players.
The thing is, while other teams search for the path to victory, Coach McVay already knows the way. Unlike 2022 or 2023, he has all of the tools, the right coaches, and a robust roster to get him there. All fans have to do is take a seat, grab some popcorn, and enjoy the journey.
Just like Coach McVay is already doing.
