5 burning questions LA Rams must answer in Week 1
By Ryan Heckman
4. Will it be the Cam Akers show?
The way the Rams' back field has shaped up, it looks like it is Cam Akers and Cam Akers alone who will be starring in that show. After an interesting year in 2022, where Akers wanted out and then ultimately started playing well down the stretch, it is solely his job. All is well, or so we think.
In any event, is it going to be the Akers show in the back field? Or, will another running back get a chance to be featured here and there?
Behind Akers is not a lot of promise, nor experience. Last year's rookie, Kyren Williams, had some people excited a year ago, but he only appeared in 10 games, getting 35 carries altogether. Ronnie Rivers, an undrafted rookie in 2022, is someone else fans saw a little spark from. But, he hasn't had much of an opportunity either.
Then, there's rookie Zach Evans, who currently sits last on the depth chart. The sixth rounder has every bit of a chance, just like Williams and Rivers, to step in and become a viable part of this back field. For right now, it appears as though it's going to be a lot of Akers. Hopefully, he's up to the task of carrying the load.
