1. Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
Air yards per attempt: 5.6
20-plus yard attempts: 15
30-plus yard attempts: 5
40-plus yard attempts: 2
50-plus yard attempts: 0
It really is no surprise to see a Kyle Shanahan offense near the top of the league in such a category. To put things in perspective a bit more, the league-leader in this category is Tua Tagovailoa at 5.7 air yards per attempt.
But, the fact that Brock Purdy is second in all of football through four weeks is pretty incredible. This guy has gone from a seventh-round draft pick and someone who wasn't even guaranteed a roster spot to now being the starting quarterback on maybe the best team in the NFC.
He has clearly come into his own, been given full trust by Shanahan and his coaching staff, and is utilizing his weapons in the right manner. It helps having the top-graded wide receiver through Week 4 (via Pro Football Focus) in Brandon Aiyuk, along with a scheme that simply gets players open. But, Purdy has been fantastic.
