Not many people expected much from the Los Angeles Rams in 2023, but they ended up having a successful season and were close to upsetting the Detroit Lions in the Wild Card Round of the Playoffs.

Now, people are starting to take the Rams more seriously as we enter the upcoming offseason and start preparing for the 2024 regular season.

Matthew Stafford had a great bounce back season, throwing for 3,965 yards and 24 touchdowns. Now, at 36 years old, we shouldn't completely dismiss him in the MVP conversation in the 2024 campaign.

Let's take a look at the overall NFL MVP odds for next season and then I'll break down why we should consider betting on Stafford as a dark horse candidate to win the award.

Matthew Stafford should be considered MVP dark horse

Listen, I don't think there are many people our there who would make the argument that Matthew Stafford should be considered amongst the top favorites to be named MVP of the NFL in 2024, but we absolutely should consider him as a Dark Horse.

He has one of the best receiving wide receiver duos in the NFL in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua and he's coming off a season where he ranked sixth in QBR behind only Brock Purdy, Dak Prescott, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Justin Herbert.

He will need some things to go his way to be in the MVP conversation this season, but older quarterbacks have won this award before, like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady.

At +2000 odds, Stafford has an implied probability of 4.76% of winning the award. If you were to bet $100 on him to win it, you'd win a profit of $2,000 if he's able to achieve the feat.
