With the 190th pick

With the 190th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, the LA Rams select Ali Gaye, a formidable EDGE rusher out of LSU. Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing in at an impressive 263 pounds, Ali Gaye is the type of player who is versatile enough to solve a lot of headaches for a defensive coordinator. And believe me, the LA Rams defense had some Excedrin-necessary games for defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

Does it make sense for the LA Rams to double down at the same position? I think so, particularly in light of the fact that the team parted ways with four EDGE rushers over the course of the 2022 NFL season, with the team now relying heavily upon 2022 rookies to step up for the 2023 NFL season.

Gaye is a prospect who does not generate much consensus. That is due to the controversy between his natural high potential factors versus the fact that Gaye remains unrefined and a bit raw. That is due to the fact tha Gaye arrived to to the U.S.A. when he was 12 years old. That delayed his participation in the American gridiron style of football until he was a sophomore in high school. From there, he grew rapidly and took to the sport. His first effort to play in the NCAA was negated as he was disqualified due to academic ineligibility. That pushed him into JUCO football, where he retained a name for himself and eventually landed at LSU.

Nothing has come easily for Ali Gaye, which has given him a bit of depth that is not often found in young rookie prospects. He is determined, and will commit himself to knocking down any door and overcoming any obstacle in his path. His potential is extremely high, but he may not be heavily scouted as the depth of this class at the EDGE position is remarkable. I believe that the LA Rams Nerd Nest will identify Ali Gaye as the type of player who has tremendous upside, and that means that his name will be called by the Rams in the 2023 NFL Draft.
