Round 6 pick 209
ILB Tommy Eichenberg out of Ohio State is another Round 6 selection that makes irrefutable logic to be selected by the Rams here. Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 233 pounds, Eichenberg brings passionate tough-as-nails physicality to the defense. He loves to smack his pads into developing running lanes to create logjams, wrap his arms around a running back behind the line of scrimmage, and shed blockers on the way to the ball carrier.
Best of all, Eichenberg can cover the middle against tight ends and running backs. That is a huge factor in his selection.
Round 6 pick 213
CB Carlton Johnson, Fresno State is a defensive back who is a sneaky good fit for the Rams at this point in the draft. After the top prospects are off the board, teams will turn their attention elsewhere, creating the perfect opportunity for the Rams to slip in under the radar and grab a solid defensive back.
Johnson stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 176 pounds, and has tremendous pass coverage presence on the football field. He falls this far because he is a bit undersized, and needs a bit of refinement in his technique.
