Seven weeks into the season, and the Los Angeles Rams have looked far more competitive than many thought they would be.
At 3-4, the Rams are well within reach of contending for a playoff berth. To begin the year, Los Angeles looked like a surprise team even without Cooper Kupp. The play of Matthew Stafford has been stellar, outside of a recent dud against Pittsburgh, while some of the youngsters on defense have given us a pleasant surprise.
By next week's trade deadline, the Rams could find themselves making a big move or two, as well. Les Snead has always been one to make an aggressive trade, leaving all picks on the table and up for grabs. Let's check out some possible targets to help the Rams get closer to contending once more.
1. Trent Brown, Offensive Tackle, New England Patriots
The first area Los Angeles could look at improving is up front across the offensive line. On the season, Rob Havenstein has played well. He's consistent. But, at the other tackle position, Alaric Jackson has been downright awful.
Jackson hasn't excelled in either the pass or run game. For that reason, going after Patriots offensive tackle Trent Brown makes some sense. Brown is rumored to be available as the Patriots are going to be deadline sellers, and the Rams should make a call.
Matthew Stafford has been one of the best and more underrated quarterbacks in the league this season, and protecting him (especially with his recent injury history) is critical. If the Rams are going to make a push, they need to keep Stafford upright, and Brown would help that cause greatly.
