One Rams player on the roster bubble at each position
By Ryan Heckman
Defensive Line: Cory Durden
The Rams clearly went defense-heavy early in the draft, highlighted by Braden Fiske in the second round and Tyler Davis in the sixth. Bobby Brown, Kobie Turner and Fiske project as the starting three up front, right away, with Davis, Desjuan Johnson and Larrell Murchison behind them.
That leaves a guy like Cory Durden potentially on the outside looking in as the seventh man in line. The Rams probably wont keep all seven of them, and we haven't even talked about the three undrafted free agents L.A. went out and signed, who might also have something to say about a roster spot.
Linebacker/Edge: Ochaun Mathis
When the Rams selected Jared Verse in the first round, that sent shockwaves throughout the outside linebacker depth chart. But, the Rams weren't done there. In the fifth round, they grabbed Brennan Jackson out of Washington State.
Between the two rookies, Byron Young, Michael Hoecht and Nick Hampton, that doesn't leave a lot of room for veteran Ochaun Mathis to earn a spot. At this point, the Rams' depth at outside linebacker might be pretty well set, barring a stellar summer from Mathis. Last season, Mathis only appeared in eight games and totaled 14 percent of defensive snaps.
