Rookie RB Blake Corum can be Mighty Mouse in this offense

The LA Rams roster boasts second year running back Zach Evans as well as running back Ronnie Rivers. Despite their presence, the team made it a point to add a very talented rookie running back Blake Corum to the roster. In theory, the only reason to select a running back in Round 3 of an NFL Draft is to add unique skillsets and attributes to the roster that no other player has.

In the case of rookie RB Blake Corum, there are many qualities that make him an ideal complementary fortification to the ground offense. So let's explore a few of the most obvious.

The first fact that jumps out at anyone is the fact that Blake Corum is a touchdown machine. In his final three seasons with the Michigan Wolverines, he scored 11, 18, and 27 touchdowns respectively. His 2023 scoring spree of 27 touchdowns eclipses the four-year careers of many collegiate rushers. And that was just one season.

Of course, college football, particularly for a featured running back, is a far cry from running for yards in the NFL. The fun part is that this young man's attitude from the get-go shows meaningful understanding that he has gone from king of the hill to a foot soldier in a brand new world. He has been all business, not only putting on a show of what he can do when everything goes right, but he has shown veteran resourcefulness even at this early juncture when things go wrong.

He has the mental agility of a cat, always landing on his feet and capable of turning even busted plays into big gains. As he and his teammates become more familiar with the offensive plays and one another, that ability will shine brightly as he competes for playing time.

Corum possesses the energy and unpredictability of an NFL rookie with the maturity, patience, and wisdom of a seasoned veteran. I believe he will excel in this offense in 2024, and can't wait to see him play this season.
