I: Rams have a full training camp to gel this year

Sometimes, NFL analysts get so caught up in perfecting their data measurements that they forget what they are trying to measure. What do I mean? The LA Rams offensive line surrendered just 34 quarterback sacks in 2023, which was the sixth-fewest in the NFL. Likewise, the Rams rushed for an average of 120.3 yards per game in 2023, with was the 11th-most yards per game in the NFL. So how did the Rams end up with a 14th ranking at offensive line last season, and a 16th ranked projection in 2024?

The Rams dominated in 2023 with almost no prep time and no continuity. This season, the Rams' offensive line is ripe, deep, and fully prepared to perform even better. Not only did the team pay particularly close attention to the interior offensive line this offseason, but the team did address depth for the offensive line as well

While Buday misses the mark completely on this vital statistic, it gets worse.

With a deep offensive line, the Rams will not be scrambling to fill vital roles for the 2024 NFL season. That means the the front office will not have to hold an emergency session to identify trade targets to fill unexpected gaps in the team's depth chart.

For the first time in several years, the Rams starting five offensive linemen are backed up by a rather talented second stringers who could hold their own until any injured starters can return to the lineup. Perhaps when all is said and done, the team's higher quality of depth is the missing ingredient. The Rams have struggled in the past to adapt and realign from any mid-season injuries. But that may not be a hurdle to jump over this season. In fact, thanks to talented backups, it may not even amount to much of a speed bump.

PFF misses the goalposts badly in 2024 projections for the LA Rams offensive line. They not only fail to capture significant details, but they are even more skeptical from a group that showed plenty of irrefutable reasons for a Top-10 grade. To put in another way, PFF sailed this one Wide Right.

As always, thanks for reading.
