With the 167th pick
The LA Rams select Karl Brooks, an edge rusher, from Bowling Green The Rams need a pass rusher, and they find one who is versatile enough to play either at the defensive end or outside linebacker position. Brooks stands 6-foot-4 and weighs an impressive 303 pounds. He has all of the makings of a solid contributor, but he is chosen in Round 4 of the 2023 NFL Draft for good reason. He is a bit raw.
The young man is a beast ready to be unleashed against unsuspecting NFL quarterbacks. And he can do so from almost anywhere along the defensive front. Having followed the preferences from LA Rams Defensive Line Coach Eric Henderson, i know that he looks for a young man who has the drive to put in the work to learn and fulfill his positional responsibilities to the fullest. Karl Brooks is exactly that type of young man.
Have a look at the Browns video analysis of the young man below. Now, keep in mind that their 'seventh round projection' was long before his stock rose. Some draft profiles have him projected as early as Round 4 in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The great news is that Karl Brooks has that motor and willingness to work hard that is the prerequisite for Coach Eric Henderson's group. And his versatility and ability to jump in and play from almost anywhere along the Rams' defensive front simply are icing on the cake. While he may not earn a start, he will push everyone hard for playing time and could become a vital rotational contributor as early as his rookie season.
