Rams are finally getting some great news on the injury front
By Bret Stuter
The LA Rams may have hit bedrock as far as pre-season injuries go. That's welcome news, because this team will need the contribution of all hands on deck this season to have a prayer of making it to the Super Bowl and hoisting another Lombardi Trophy. Not just to win games throughout the season, but to gain vital experience for so many young players to compete at NFL Playoff level.
It won't be easy.
But this not a roster built from 98-pound weaklings. This is a team of tough guys with a passion for the sport that is one of their premier reasons for being selected to the Rams roster. Though young and inexperienced yet, they have the energy of youth, the desire to succeed like a runner-up, and a passion for football that tops the charts.
It's powering this Rams to field a swarming defense, a never-say-die offense, and a special teams cast of no-names that is out to make a name for themselves. This season.
Some preseason worries
The LA Rams have not gone without injuries in camp. In fact, they face a season without rotational DB Derion Kendrick, the early part of the season without TE Tyler Higbee (ACL) and QB Jimmy Garoppolo (two game suspension, and a host of players fighting off injuries on a week-to-week basis that includes:
- LT Alaric Jackson (ankle)
- RT Rob Havenstein (ankle/foot)
- LG Jonah Jackson (shoulder)
- DB Darious Williams (hastring)
And then, it Game 1, backup center was pulled from the game and looked at by trainers That was very disappointing, as Limmer appears to be as strong as an ox and as impenetrable as Captain America's vibranium shield.
Making matters worse, the LA Rams joint practice and scrimmage was transferred from a second round with the Los Angeles Chargers to the Dallas Cowboys, specifically for logistics reasons. But QB Matthew Stafford was pulled from practice after complaining about 'hamstring tightness' which is an ambiguous term that could mean a couple of days to a couple of months. And the regular season is looming ever larger on the horizon.
Was Matthew Stafford's injury a mountain or a molehill? Things were not trending the right way, so it was only human nature to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
