The disappointment of losing a key player to injury can be a significant concern for fans, and rightfully so. Injuries are unexpected downgrades to the team that must learn instantly how to function with a new team configuration, while simultaneously springing the front office into action mode. Roster depth, especially throughout training camp and preseason, must be sustained at a level to allow a steady and manageable workload across the remaining players.

But concern can dissipate quickly, replaced by joy and optimism, when those injured players return to the fold. Right now, the team is welcoming back both Matthew Stafford and Jonah Jackson to practice. And the relief among the fanbase is tangible.

Of course, for the Doubting Thomases, here is visual proof that Matthew Stafford is truly suited up and practicing today:

While it may not be enough to assuage all fears and concerns, this is a huge step in the right direction today. I am particularly pleased with the return of new left guard Jonah Jackson, who is the newcomer to the team's offense. While other starters have plenty of real world Rams experience to draw upon, Jonah Jackson is the most critical starter to get reps right now. Of course, center Steve Avila runs a close second, but he is a fixture on this team's offensive line, and has impeccable durability so far.

Even RG Kevin Dotson, who was installed as the team's starting right guard in Week 4 of the 2023 NFL season, has not missed a practice yet this season.

The team is not out of the woods just yet. But the tide is changing. Two players, key starters, who were not practicing are back on the football field. And they are now two players, and positions, that the fans needn't fret about going forward.
