(3) - DB Quentin Lake is the 'glue guy', and he is superb

It was clear from the get-go that rookie DBs Decobie Durant and Quentin Lake are pretty special players when they appeared on The Pivot Podcast before ever showing up on the football field. After all, they were drafted on Day 3 of the 2022 NFL Draft, were joining a defending Super Bowl team, and yet had to find their niche on a roster that had a lot of confidence in returning for another Super Bowl.

Well, that never quite happened.

But both Cobie Durant and Quentin Lake have shown up in a big way to help the team. And of the group of 2022 NFL Draft defensive backs, Quentin Lake selected with the 211th overall pick of that draft in Round 6 appears to be an outright second steal (RB Kyren Williams selected in Round 5 is the other).

Check out their early interview after joining the LA Rams.

It took Quentin Lake some time to overcome injuries in his rookie season in 2022. But he began to show up in fine form through the course of the 2023 NFL season. Now he is a defensive captain for 2024.

That role is not a title-only designation. With plenty of pressure on the Rams secondary to not only up their coverage skills but create turnovers, this team will need a lot of communication, coordination, and cooperation. That will be on Quentin Lake's plate as well.

It may not go smoothly in Week 1. But this is a much improved secondary that has gotten a lot of attention and investment for 2024. The results will show up soon. Stay tuned.

And as always, thanks for reading.
