The LA Rams are so overjoyed with Florida State outside linebacker Jared Verse that the team decided to trade up to ensure that the team landed his teammate, DT Braden Fiske. The Rams had two 'gotta do's' in this draft, and with the second selection in the 2024 NFL Draft for the team, they have checked all of the boxes.

Of course, the cost to trade up to the 39th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft came at a very steep price. The Rams agreed to send their own 52nd overall pick (Round 2), 155th overall pick (Round 5) and a 2025 draft pick in Round 2. That feels like very high compensation

But the Rams really had no choice in the matter. The draft board was clearly starting a run on the best defensive tackles in the 2024 NFL Draft class, and the team had no option to sit at 52 and see who remained from the run on DTs.

The move to trade up for Fiske may be costly, but the team clearly believes that Fiske is worth the price. I, for one, agree with them. And I am not the only one. The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue shares that the team understood that to get Braden Fiske, they would need to trade up. He was their guy.

Why might Fiske be worth more than face value to the LA Rams defense? Let's talk about bonus points of accomodating rookies to ease their transition to the NFL. The Rams have added the top two defenders on the Florida State defense from 2023. It's clear that these two players love to feed off each other's emotions and production.

Now they get a chance to unleash their fury on the NFL on the Rams defense.
