Could Aaron Donald be the next Eric Weddle to un-retire to help the LA Rams? Former Rams LT Andrew Whitworth brings it up, so it's likely still on the table . . .

Okay, I didn't want to go in this direction, but when the former blind side offensive tackle hints that the door to a return of All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald is still on the table, who am I to shield you from that hope? If the source of these Rams rumors was anyone other than Andrew Whitworth, I would have passed.

But the source of the Rams rumors is indeed Andrew Whitworth, the host of Aaron Donald's recent visit to the LA Rams joint practice and scirimmage with the Dallas Cowboys. And yes, during his visit, Aaron Donald was indeed very much in NFL 'gameday' shape.

So it comes as no surprise to see the topic of that visit come up in a subsequent interview. The interview occurred on the Up & Adams podcast, with host Kay Adams. Her guest was in fact LA Rams legendary left tackle Andrew Whitworth, who is also very much retired. And as a former Rams player who is himself retired, he is a bit of an authority of retired Rams players.

And he all but came out and said that if the LA Rams win games, and make a run at the NFL Playoffs in November and December, that Aaron Donald could make a move to 'un-retire' for one season, and return to the LA Rams ro help them in the playoffs.

Andrew Whitworth shared that Aaron Donald still loves the game of football passionately. Throughout his visit, he was very impressed with the Rams young defensive linemen. And we know that, true to his own demands, these young players all care about the game.

So yes, Aaron Donald pulling an Eric Weddle? Andrew Whitworth put that scenario on the talbe. If you don't recall, former defensive back Eric Weddle had retired for two seasons. But the LA Rams were heading for the NFL Playoffs after a solid 2021 NFL season without their two starting safeties: Jordan Fuller or Taylor Rapp, both of whom were injured and expected to miss multiple games.

So then DC Raheem Morris persuaded Weddle to un-retire and join the Rams in time to help them in the playoffs; Not only did Eric Weddle return, but he earned the starting role and played lights out to help seal the LA Rams' first Super Bowl victory for the city of Los Angeles, California:

Could Aaron Donald follow that same path? Well, based on the conversation between Kay Adams and guest Andrew Whitworth, that option is still on the table.
